In this weeks’ video, Chuck gives some helpful hints on how to cut a straight edge onto a hide and then cutting straight straps from there. Chuck also shows how to cut soft, thin leather without getting a “rippled” cut.
Materials used in this video:
4′ Straight Edge
Non-Slip Tape
Wooden Strap Cutter
Steel Square
Thanks! Excellent demonstration!
Thank you!
Try using a “hook type blade” in a utility knife, cuts leather like butter. I have used it to cut 4 thru 10 oz leather. Use it with a straight edge.
Thank you for the tip, James!
Awesome video! Thank you!
Thank you, Lois!
What thickness of leather to use for a bracelet and or book markers?
Hello,
It kind of depends on what kind of bracelet you are making but 4/5 oz. is usually what I use for bracelets. You can use that same weight for bookmarks unless you wat the bookmarks to be more rigid you could go up to a 6 oz. Hope that helps!
Great n4!
Thank you!
Chuck, You carry your utility knife on your side, can you share the design of the case. Thanks
I would be happy to! Thanks for asking! Email us and I’ll get a pic of it to you.
Thanks Chuck, I’m looking forward to seeing the design. I have to say I enjoy your videos. It’s helping me remember what I used to do all the time many years ago and I’m sure others feel the same way.
