In this week’s episode of “The Leather Element”, Chuck answers some of your questions about wet molding leather. We will show you the process of soaking the leather and forming it using a wood mold and your hands as well as a wooden frame mold.

I tried to send an e-mail to you but not sure it made it. I have been searching for years for a good storage container for my dyes. I found the other day at Michael’s Craft store a plastic “Wash Tape” storage box that works perfectly for 4 oz bottles. Hopefully my e-mail was forwarded to you as it had some photos of other minor adaptations I made. Still searching for something to store 1 Qt. bottles in.
Hi William,
We’ll check on the email! Thank you for the tip!
I sent it to the web orders e-mail, and asked that they forward it to you
Hello,
My question is this: how large should you cut a pattern for (in my case) a phone case to wet mold it? I am trying to make a double pocket case for my Samsung Note 9 and a solar charger which is slightly smaller than the phone.
Hi Jeff,
You’ll want to add about 1″ to 1-1/2″ extra on all sides after you’ve factored in the depth of your mold. So if the case is 3″ wide and the depth is 1/2″, you’ll want the width to be at least 6″. It’s always better to have extra than not enough.
